Is there any good news?

Is there any good news?  The past week has been filled with bad news all around.  Most of it really sad.     I would love to hear something GOOD.

Please share your good news with me.

  1. My coworker just told me a great story. Her best friend’s son went through a terrible divorce a few years ago – the type where he came home one day and the wife, kids and furniture were gone AND he ended up with almost all the marital debt. Shortly after that, he lost his job. Since then he’s struggled but he’s managed to fight his way back – found another job, paid things off, married a great girl and they recently were able to purchase a small condo together. They have both worked hard and lived within their means.

Now, that would all be a good story but here’s the really good part. The new wife’s grandfather recently passed away and they just received a phone call. He left her a million dollars! Cool, huh?

  3. @Missy – Fantastic story.

@Krisie – Congrats. It feels great to get CC paid off and especially high interst CC.

  5. I have been trying a new ‘envelope’ method of restricting my daily spending to $20 (easily spent on food and things not needed). Each day gets $20 ($30 on weekends), at the end of the week the left overs go into a pot and at the end of the month, I plan to put the ‘extra’ towards the CC debt that I have.

For the first week: $91 SAVED! Out of $220 (covered two weekends), I’d say that was pretty darn good!

Oh and it’s snowing here (Vancouver, BC).

  6. I had a nice lunch date this weekend that turned into a (casual) dinner date and a little bit of evening cuddling 🙂

  8. I’ve been sick for a week and a half, but I am better. I am alive. My kids are healthy. We only have mortgage debt. My house is warm and dry when it is cold and wet outside. I have clothes on my back. We have food in the pantry. We are loved and love. My car is running fabulous and it is paid off with 115k miles on it. High-interest rates on saving are not below 1%. We lost an hour sleep this past weekend, which gives us a bonus hour to achieve more or tell those we love how we feel.

Every moment of every day has a positive – the media is only one tiny little spec and their negativity will not be allowed to take our many blessings away!

Smile, Live, Laugh and Love – WOW ARE WE ALL LUCKY!

  9. Thanks to all of you for sharing the positive. I wasn’t going to mention this but a friend of mine killed herself last week. She had three children all younger than mine.

I have a very blessed life but sometimes (rarely) I do seem to dwell on the problems of the world.

  12. OOh Amber, I am SO sorry to hear this terrible news. I am just so sad. How awful. All I can say is that my heart goes out to the children, to you, and to the entire family.
