It’s Pay Day

I can’t believe I actually forgot today is payday.  What is wrong with me?  For someone trying to pay off debt this is supposed to be the highlight of the month.

I am mailing off my car payment and I owe less than $8000 on it now.  To be exact I owe $7996.00.  This is a big deal considering when we bought the car we financed *DRUM ROLL* TWENTY EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS.  Absolutely crazy.  Of course, we were convinced that we needed all this extra stuff on the car so my $25,000 car became $28,000.

A few other positives with the bills.

1) I cancelled the equal pay on my electric bill so I have no bill this month or for a few more months – so for this month I save $142

2) My gas bill is $45.28 – about $15 less than I expected

I still need to sit down and figure out how much to send to the credit card.  I just know this is going to be a great debt payoff month.

  1. Payday was the best day of the week, ever. I’d have the exact amount I wanted to put towards debt ready in my head for when the cheque hit my account and then I’d pay it immediately and update my sheets LOL

  3. Don’t you love payday when you are paying down debt. You feel like you can finally make a dent again. I actually get depressed after it is over, cause I have to wait another two weeks.

  4. I started with the exact same car loan balance. My extra couple thousand was sales tax though, California taxes cars like any other purchase, 8.25% at the time. You’re on a roll! Oh, I’m a payday geek too.

  6. $20,000 paid off on the car already. That is great! The rest gone before the end of the year is even better!

  7. I totally forgot it was payday as well, don’t feel bad. I didn’t realize it at all until people starting handing me money to pay off their Girl Scout cookie tabs. You are just a little tired (that is what I told myself)

  8. I always feel rich on payday… for about 30 minutes. After I’ve paid all my bills, I’m back to being poor. One of these days, we’ll continue to feel rick when we pay off our stinkin’ debt!

  10. I love payday so I can check how my 401k is doing. I love updating my morningstar portfolio and seeing how it’s doing. My debt payments are all on auto pilot and extra gets taken care of at the beginning of each month.
