Becoming Debt Free in 2009

Debt Page Gone

Filed under: Car,Debt,Journey to Debt Freedom — ambercouric @ 9:24 am

I’ve deleted my debt totals page.  I have decided that I’m not quite comfortable with having the numbers listed.  I will update once a month when the bills are paid.

I think I am going to concentrate on the car first so I will be updating the car total each month and then I will start on the credit card.   My goal for the car is to have it paid off by June.

  1. I don’t have my dollar amounts listed all the time either. I just have a percentage showing. I have just posted my year end totals though…ouch!

Good luck on paying off your car! It’s going to be a good year for both of us! 🙂

  3. I’m happy to post everything, but I’m also doing this anonymously. You should do whatever you are comfortable with.

  4. I agree with Miss M, do what you are comfortable with. I post my figures as I live in the UK and most of my readership is in the US – apart from sharon rose and a few others 🙂

  5. Sometimes I think of doing the same thing – just listing one at a time… maybe it would help my focus? instead of seeing a big ugly HUGE number, just seeing what my current ‘attack debt’ is?!?!

  6. I listed mine for about a day or two and then took them down. Not sure why, just thought maybe it wasn’t a good idea. So I understand your decision.

  7. I think a lot of people are embarrassed to post how much debt they have. I know I’m uncomfortable with the amount of my debt even though I walked into it all intentionally and with no regrets. I post the amounts I borrowed and how much I’ve paid so far for all of my debts and my savings goals as well. Of course, I’ll tell people straight up face to face how much I had in student loans or how much I paid for my car if they ask. I also love looking at other people’s numbers and I wouldn’t want to be a hypocrite!
